Chitra lingered on the balcony, her eyes tracing Karthick’s car until it disappeared at the end of the street. The quiet hum of the city below seemed to amplify the stillness inside, and she let out a soft sigh as a gentle breeze teased the edge of her saree. Her steps back into the apartment were unhurried, the pallu swaying with a rhythm that mirrored her thoughts—equal parts calm and restless.
The living room, however, was anything but serene. Siddharth was sprawled across the sofa, his legs stretched out like he owned the place, completely engrossed in his PUBG game. The sharp bursts of gunfire and shouted commands filled the air, a jarring contrast to the quiet moments Chitra had just left behind.
“AKKIEEE… Come on, man! Don’t take all the loot! Give me the AWM—you can keep the Groza,” Siddharth called out, his voice carrying through his headset with exaggerated urgency.
Chitra scowled, her hands on her hips. “Oye, mister! Your papa and grandpa just left, and you couldn’t even bother to pause that game long enough to come and see them off?”
Siddharth glanced up briefly, offering a sheepish grin. “It’s an online multiplayer game, Mumma—it can’t be paused. OH SHIT! Akkieeee! I’m shot! HELP! HELP! HELP!” He let out a groan, throwing his phone down dramatically before looking up at her with mock accusation. “You distracted me, and now I’m dead. Happy? All your fault.”
Chitra rolled her eyes. “You and your stupid mobile games. They’re going to rot your brain. Don’t you have anything better to play?”
Siddharth opened his mouth to fire back, but his gaze wandered downward, coming to rest on the smooth curve of Chitra’s exposed waist. The saree’s loose drape revealed just enough of her milky skin to catch his attention. As she shifted her weight, the soft sway of her sides mesmerized him, and an impish grin slowly spread across his face.
“Well…” Siddharth began, rising from the sofa with exaggerated ease, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “If you’d rather I play with something else… I’ve got a great idea.”
Chitra narrowed her eyes, immediately suspicious, but there was a hint of amusement in her tone as she replied. “Oh? And what might that be?” She cocked her hip to the side, a knowing smile tugging at her lips.
Siddharth strolled up to her, his steps unhurried, his gaze never leaving her waist. “I could play with my favorite spot,” he said, stopping directly in front of her.
“Favorite spot, huh?” Chitra tilted her head, clasping her hands behind her back as she began to sway her torso lazily from side to side. Her movements were unhurried, teasing. “And where might that be?”
“Right here,” Siddharth whispered, his voice low and playful as he reached out, his hands coming to rest firmly on her bare waist, halting her sway. His fingers pressed gently against her skin, his grin widening. “And it’s all mine for the next couple of weeks. No competition.”
Siddharth gave her waist a playful squeeze, drawing a sharp gasp from Chitra. “Siddharth! You’re such a little pervert!” she exclaimed, her voice a mixture of scolding and reluctant amusement.
“Little pervert?” Siddharth clutched his chest as if deeply wounded, his expression comically dramatic. “How dare you tarnish my sterling reputation? I’m no pervert—I’m an admirer, a connoisseur of fine bellies. And yours, Mommy? It’s a masterpiece! Soft as a marshmallow, smooth as silk, and so beautiful it could make the moon jealous. For the next two weeks, it’s officially under my protection. No trespassers allowed!”
Before she could muster a reply, Siddharth knelt down, his movements deliberate and filled with mischief. Gently, he moved her pallu aside, revealing her now-blushing belly. Without hesitation, he leaned forward and planted a playful kiss just above her deep, gasping navel.
Chitra let out a startled laugh, her hands instinctively pressing against his shoulders to push him away. But her efforts were weak, betrayed by the amused glint in her eyes and the laughter bubbling up in her voice. “Siddharth, stop it!” she cried, her cheeks flushing a delicate pink, half in disbelief and half in laughter.
Siddharth, undeterred, leaned in again, this time placing a softer, slower kiss just below her navel, pressing his nose into her navel’s delicate depths. The sensation sent a shiver rippling through her, and she gasped audibly as the vacuuming sensation of air being sucked out her navel through his deep inhale filled her senses.
“Ahhh… Sid…” she stammered, her voice trembling as her body reacted involuntarily. “What the hell are you doing?” she managed to gasp out, her tone caught somewhere between disbelief and exasperation.
“Can’t help it,” Siddharth teased, his voice light yet filled with playful intent. His fingers traced slow, lazy patterns along her waist before giving it another gentle squeeze, drawing yet another sharp gasp from her. He hovered over her quivering navel, as though addressing it directly. “I mean, just look at it. How could I possibly resist? This…” he whispered, his tone dropping to a low murmur, “this is paradise.”
Before he could lean in again, Chitra swatted at his cheek lightly, her laughter bubbling up despite herself. “You’re impossible!” she exclaimed, shaking her head as though exasperated, though the smile tugging at her lips told a different story. “Two weeks of this, and I swear, I’ll lose my mind.”
Siddharth finally pulled back, utterly unapologetic, his grin as wide as ever. With a confident swagger, he rose and sauntered back to the sofa, flopping down with the air of someone who knew he’d won this round.
Chitra stood for a moment, her head shaking in a mixture of disbelief and amusement. “Ridiculous boy,” she muttered under her breath, though the faint smile playing on her lips betrayed her fondness. Turning on her heel, she made her way to the kitchen, her saree swaying gently with every step as she tried to regain some semblance of normalcy.
It had been a long day for Chitra. After finishing up in the kitchen, she stretched her arms above her head, letting out a tired sigh. Her saree had shifted slightly, her pallu still tucked into her waist from the evening’s work, exposing the soft curves of her sides. Longing for a moment of quiet, she grabbed a novel from the coffee table and made her way to the bedroom.
Settling onto the bed, she propped herself against the pillows and opened the book, eager to lose herself in its pages. The faint hum of the bedside lamp cast a warm glow, wrapping her in a cocoon of tranquility. But just as her eyes began to scan the first lines, her phone buzzed on the nightstand, lighting up with Karthick’s name.
“Hello,” she answered, her voice warm yet edged with fatigue.
“Hi, Chitra. How are you? Everything okay there?”
“Yes, all fine,” she replied, adjusting the pillows to find a more comfortable position. “How’s Appa doing? Did the journey tire him out?”
“He’s resting now,” Karthick said, his voice calm and reassuring. “The doctor seems optimistic. Hopefully, the treatment will help.”
Chitra smiled softly, a sense of relief washing over her. “That’s good to hear. Just make sure he eats properly. And don’t forget to take care of yourself too.”
As they spoke, Siddharth strolled into the room, his gait casual but his eyes sparkling with mischief. Without a word, he dropped onto the bed beside her, sprawling out as though it were his own. His gaze wandered lazily over her, eventually settling on her waist, where the saree revealed the soft, fleshy curve of her side.
Chitra noticed his attention and shot him a fleeting, warning glance but remained focused on her call. “How are you managing? Is everything okay with Appa’s routine?”
“Hmm? Yes, everything’s fine,” Karthick replied. “What about Siddharth? Is he behaving?”
Chitra opened her mouth to respond, but before she could, Siddharth leaned closer. His hand found her waist, warm and firm, resting lightly against her skin. The unexpected touch made her tense, her fingers tightening slightly around the phone as she struggled to keep her voice steady.
“He’s… fine,” she managed, though the faint hitch in her tone betrayed her.
Siddharth’s fingers began tracing slow, deliberate circles along her waist, his touch featherlight yet enough to send ripples of sensation through her. Chitra shifted subtly, attempting to nudge him away without drawing attention to herself. Her breath caught as his lips followed, brushing soft, teasing kisses just above her navel.
“You sound distracted,” Karthick noted, his voice tinged with curiosity. “Is something wrong?”
“No… um… just a bit tired,” Chitra replied, her voice faltering as Siddharth’s lips lingered, pressing another kiss—slower, more deliberate this time.
“Okay, make sure you get some rest,” Karthick said, though there was a hint of doubt in his tone. “I’ll call tomorrow to check in.”
“Hmm, goodnight,” Chitra murmured hastily, ending the call before he could probe further.
The moment the phone hit the nightstand, Chitra turned to Siddharth, her expression caught between exasperation and amusement. “What do you think you’re doing?” she demanded, her voice soft but tinged with mock annoyance.
Siddharth finally met her gaze, his lips curving into a mischievous smirk. He shrugged casually, as if his actions were the most natural thing in the world. “Just playing with my favorite spot,” he said, his voice low and teasing.
Chitra shook her head, letting out a soft laugh as her expression softened. Maybe it was his playful innocence, or maybe it was the way his touch brought a welcome distraction from the emptiness of the night. After all, with Karthick away, she thought to herself, Siddharth’s innocent antics might be the closest thing to company she’d get for the next two weeks. And, truthfully, it wasn’t all that unpleasant.
With that, she decided to let it be, leaning back against the pillows as Siddharth’s grin grew wider, a spark of triumph in his eyes.
Just as Chitra settled back into the pillows and closed her eyes, her phone buzzed again. Her face lit up like a thousand-watt bulb as she saw the name flashing on the screen: Arjun.
“Hello, stranger…” she said, her tone mockingly put out as she answered the call.
“Stranger?” Arjun’s deep, playful voice came through, laced with amusement. “Is that any way to greet your favorite person from college?”
“Former favorite person,” Chitra corrected with a huff. “You’ve been demoted ever since you failed to inform me before having a get-together with the rest of the gang.”
“Uffo! You’re still holding on to that? I told you—it wasn’t planned. It just happened. It wasn’t a get-together.”
“Certainly seemed like one,” Chitra retorted icily, the jealousy clear in her voice. “The way you were chilling with Shalu and Marcus—I saw your Instagram stories. Looked like you guys had a lot of fun.”
Arjun sighed, clearly exasperated but still playful. “I swear, it wasn’t a get-together. I was in town for work. Marcus happened to be around, and Shalu dropped by for advice on some ad offer she got. She didn’t even know Marcus would be there. But yeah, once we were all together, it felt like old times. We all wished you were there too.” He paused for dramatic effect. “But don’t worry—we’ll plan a proper get-together soon. Now that Shalu and Marcus have made up, the whole gang can meet again.”
“Hmph,” Chitra grunted, still not mollified.
“And…” Arjun continued, his voice dropping into a teasing lilt, “I’ve just arrived in Chennai, hoping to meet my old partner in crime before heading back. But it seems like she’s too pissed to see me.”
Chitra’s eyes flew open, and she sat up straight against the headboard. “What? You’re in Chennai?”
“Yep,” Arjun replied casually. “I’ve got some work here and will be leaving the day after tomorrow.”
“Really? Where are you now?” Chitra asked, excitement creeping into her voice.
“Just checked into a hotel. Saw one named ‘Chitra’ and didn’t think twice—straightaway booked a room.” His tone was dripping with mock seriousness.
Chitra rolled her eyes. “There’s no need for that. You could’ve stayed here.”
“And put up with Karthick glaring at me every time I so much as look in your direction? No thanks,” Arjun quipped.
Chitra burst out laughing. “Karthick isn’t here! He’s gone to Kerala with Appa for a couple of weeks for his treatment.”
“Oh, so I’m being invited for an unsupervised stay at your home? Tempting. Really tempting.”
“Don’t get any ideas, mister,” Chitra said, her laughter still bubbling. “We’re not college kids anymore. You’re welcome to stay, but you better behave!”
At that moment, Siddharth struck. Without warning, he leaned down and blew a loud, exaggerated raspberry on her belly. Chitra’s body tensed as a surprised laugh escaped her lips. She instinctively tried to push him away, but he was relentless.
“Looks like you’ve already got someone there who isn’t behaving,” Arjun said through the speaker, clearly amused by the commotion.
“Sid! Get off me! Can’t you see I’m on a call?” Chitra scolded, trying to shove him off.
Siddharth, however, doubled down. He nuzzled his face deeper into her belly and pressed a teasing kiss near her navel.
“Ahhh… Sid…” Chitra cried, her voice rising involuntarily, despite her best efforts to maintain composure.
“Chits, are you okay?” Arjun’s concerned voice came through the phone.
“Yes, yes,” she said hurriedly, trying to sound calm even as Siddharth’s face remained burrowed into her belly folds. “It’s just my son being up to no good as usual.” She exhaled, willing herself to ignore the tickling sensations. “Anyway, Arjun, come over tomorrow. Lunch at my place.”
Arjun laughed. “Deal. But tell me—if I come, will I get your full attention, or do I need to compete with Sid for it?”
Chitra bit her lip, glancing down at Siddharth, who now lay sprawled across her lap, his face nestled against her belly. His fingers lazily traced the folds of her skin, adding to her flustered state.
“You’re impossible,” she finally said into the phone, though it wasn’t clear whether she was addressing Arjun or Siddharth.
“See you tomorrow, Chits,” Arjun said, signing off with a chuckle.
As the call ended, Chitra set her phone down and glanced down at Siddharth, her expression a mixture of mock anger and amusement. “You’re such a brat, you know that?” she said, swatting him lightly on the head.
Siddharth smirked, entirely unrepentant. Leaning in, he pressed a cheeky kiss to her navel, drawing another sharp gasp from her.
Chitra woke up the next morning to the golden rays of sunlight spilling through the curtains. She stretched lazily, instinctively grabbed the hand that was draped around her belly without a second thought, but paused before she set the hand aside and looked towards the person lying by her side. Usually it was her husband Karthick’s hand she found wrapped around her belly everytime she woke up in the morning, but today the hand felt smaller and softer as she picked it up and realization kicked in. The person holding her belly hostage wasn’t her husband but her son.
‘This boy is getting more and more belly obsessed as he is grows up’ Chitra thought as she silently rolled out and replaced his arm over a pillow which he immediately drew close and held on tight to himself. Chitra smiled fondly at him and shook her head ‘Well the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Does it?’ she thought thinking of both her husband and her father in law.
Instead of heading to her usual morning bath, Chitra went straight to the kitchen. She spent the morning cooking—preparing a light breakfast and a lavish lunch in anticipation of Arjun’s visit. Only after everything was ready did she step into the shower, allowing herself time to refresh. The warm water washed away the morning’s exertion, and she indulged in her favorite shower lotion, the one she reserved for special occasions. She meticulously exfoliated and toned her skin, shampooed and conditioned her long hair, and stepped out glowing, feeling rejuvenated.
She tried not to think too deeply about why she was going to this much lengths to get ready just to receive a guest. She wasn’t even planning to go anywhere. As she browsed through her collection of sarees in the wardrobe to wear for the day her eyes wandered towards a small stack that was in the bottom corner which consisted of sarees which she rarely ever won and for good reason. After hesitating for a few seconds she plucked out a plain orange one from that stack and examined it critically. It was a simple orange saree, but the reason it was stacked alongside that bunch was because the material was very light and easily see through.
‘Should be ok once I pleat it’ she told herself and picked out a sleeveless brown blouse to go with it. After wearing it she examined herself critically in the mirror. The pleats did do a flimsy job of reducing the transparentness of her saree, at least in the portion that covered her middle belly. Still one could easily see where her navel was through the material. It was too prominent to be missed. Her soft beautifully proportioned fleshy waist however peeked out in its full glory.
“Well that’s certainly going to grab some attention” she muttered smiling conspiratorially at her own reflection. Again she pushed down that small part of brain that was trying to tell explain to her the reason behind her compulsion to choose this saree, which she stubbornly refused to acknowledge.
She knew Arjun very well too well, and was perfectly aware that her current appearance was going to drive him crazy. And knowing him, she was highly doubtful whether he was going to keep his hands to himself either. Add her son too to the mix, who has been extra excitable than usual in the absence of his Dad, she had a feeling this was going to be a very interesting day.
As Chitra stepped out of her bedroom, adjusting the waistline of her saree and tucking a strand of her damp hair her ear she heard a low whistle from the couch in the living in the room. She looked up to see Sidharth sitting there, his phone slipping away from his hand and falling into his lap as he stared at her in awe. “Wow, Mom” he gushed shamelessly scanning her from head to toe “Are you sure you are not planning to give Arjun uncle a heart attack?”
“Oh ! Why? Is it bad?” Chitra asked self consciously looking down at herself. The second thoughts in her head suddenly getting louder.
Bad? Not even close,” Siddharth replied, grinning. “You look beautiful. No—scratch that—you look sexy. Too sexy. If Arjun Uncle doesn’t drop dead, he’s definitely going to have some very distracting thoughts.”
Chitra rolled her eyes. “He’s a fashion photographer, kiddo. He works with supermodels every day—women far prettier and hotter than me, wearing much sexier outfits. This is nothing for him.”
“Somehow, I seriously doubt that. I bet you could give any of those models a run for their money,” Siddharth quipped.
“Ha-ha, very funny,” Chitra said dryly, though his words secretly pleased her. “Now, get off that couch and go freshen up.”
After a few minutes of playful banter and reluctant complaints, Siddharth finally agreed to shower and headed to his room. Chitra watched him go, shaking her head with a smile. Though she wouldn’t admit it aloud, her son’s compliments had lifted her spirits, and as she adjusted her saree once more, she couldn’t help but feel a quiet confidence settle over her.
Another half hour passed before Chitra finally heard the sound she had been longing for—the doorbell. Her heart leapt with excitement, and she rushed to the door, pausing just long enough to compose herself before opening it. Standing on the threshold, flashing his signature grin, was her best friend.
“Arjouu…” she greeted warmly, her eyes flicking over his stylish look. Dressed casually in a fitted, full-sleeve Henley T-shirt and jeans, his sharp sense of style hadn’t faded a bit. His usually wavy hair was sleekly combed back, giving him a polished, effortlessly handsome look. His eyes, full of mirth, lit up at the sight of her, and before she could utter another word, he swooped in.
“Chittieeee!” Arjun exclaimed, his energy brimming. Without warning, his hands wrapped around her lower back, and in one swift motion, he lifted her off her feet and twirled her around.
“Ahh! Hahaha, what are you doing, you idiot? Put me down!” Chitra laughed, swatting at him as she spun.
“Couldn’t resist,” Arjun said with a hearty laugh, finally setting her back on her feet. Even then, his hands lingered loosely on her waist, his thumbs brushing against her bare skin, making her raise an eyebrow at him.
“If I’d known you’d look this stunning, I would’ve shown up sooner,” he said unabashedly, his fingers grazing the smooth, exposed curve of her waist.
Chitra laughed, catching both of his hands and pulling them away. “It hasn’t even been a second since you set foot here, and you’re already flirting. Hands off, mister. You can’t just go around grabbing my waist like you used to in college.”
Arjun grinned mischievously. “Hey, it’s not my fault. How can I resist when you’re dressed like this? Is this how you usually dress at home, or is this just for me?”
Chitra blushed, trying to hide the fact that she had put thought into her appearance. “What do you mean dressed like this? It’s just a simple orange saree. Nothing special about it.”
“You’re right. It’s not the saree,” Arjun quipped, his eyes dipping momentarily to her midriff. “It’s what’s behind the saree. Or what it’s barely covering.” He gestured toward her waist, where the sunlight streaming through the window illuminated her satin-smooth belly and deep, inviting navel through the sheer fabric.

Before she could respond, the door to Siddharth’s room opened, and he stepped out, freshly showered. “Arjun Uncleee!” he exclaimed, delighted, rushing over to shake his hand. “Long time no see!”
“Siddharth, my boy!” Arjun greeted, ruffling his hair affectionately. “You’re growing up to be quite the charmer—just like your old man here.”
Siddharth grinned. “You’ve barely aged, though. You still look just like you did in Mom’s college pics.”
“College pics? You’ve seen those?” Arjun asked, his grin widening.
“Oh yeah,” Siddharth said, his tone mischievous. “I found Mom’s secret college album the other day. You’re in almost every picture—and in most of them, you’re glued to her waist. Your hands especially seemed permanently attached.”
“Siddharth!” Chitra gasped, her cheeks burning with embarrassment as she shot him a glare. Arjun, however, burst out laughing.
“Well, he’s not wrong,” Arjun said, clearly enjoying her flustered reaction. “What can I say? Your mom was quite the beauty queen back in the day. Everyone adored her. But me? I had a special weakness.”
“Oh no…” Chitra muttered, already knowing where this was headed.
“Her belly,” Arjun declared with zero hesitation, leaning in slightly as if sharing a secret. “It was just… irresistible. I mean, Chitty’s midriff practically had its own fan club.”
“Arjun!” Chitra exclaimed, her tone caught between shock and laughter. Her hands instinctively moved to adjust her pallu, trying to cover herself.
“I’m just being honest,” Arjun said with a shrug, turning to Siddharth. “And I bet you understand, don’t you? After all, some things run in the family.”
Siddharth grinned, leaning over to give Chitra’s waist a playful squeeze, making her squirm. “He’s not wrong, Mom. I mean, it is kind of my favorite spot too.”
“Unbelievable,” Chitra muttered, covering her face with her hands, though her muffled laughter betrayed her amusement.
Arjun chuckled, his eyes twinkling with mischief. Then, to everyone’s surprise, he dropped to one knee in front of Chitra with an exaggerated flourish. His gaze locked with hers, full of playful intent.
“Chitty,” he began dramatically, “as your most loyal admirer, I think it’s only fair that I pay tribute.”
“Arjun, don’t you—” Chitra started, but before she could finish, he swept her pallu aside in one smooth motion. His lips met her belly in a soft, lingering kiss just above her navel. Her skin was warm beneath his touch, trembling ever so slightly at the contact.
“Arjun!” Chitra gasped, her hands flying to his shoulders, half to steady herself and half to push him away.
“What are you doing?”
“Just a little nostalgia,” he teased, pulling back with a wicked grin. His thumb brushed teasingly along the edge of her navel before he stood. “You used to let me get away with so much more back in the day.”
“Stop it!” Chitra said, swatting at him, though her voice was tinged with laughter.
Siddharth, thoroughly entertained, leaned against the doorway. “Uncle, I think you’ve still got it. Mom’s completely flustered.”
“That’s my specialty,” Arjun replied, brushing off his knees. “Flustering Chitty has always been my favorite pastime.”
